Wow!!!
It’s the month of May!!! Soon to be the month of June!! Isn’t this year simply flying by?! A newsletter comes out then it seems like 3 or 4 weeks pass and ANOTHER newsletter is due to come out!! Strange! Anyway there’s a lot to get through so listen the heck up!!

So yeah, I heard the distressing news that there are still a few memberships due to come in......*SIGH*!!!!!!!! How many times does newsletter have to remind you guys about membership payment??? Pay it, pay it, pay it, pay it, pay it, pay it, pay it, pay it, pay it, pay it, PAY IT!!! Once it’s paid it’s paid because i’m getting tired of putting this in the darned newsletter!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to those who have paid it.
Pay it
Summer Show Stuff
Everything is still going well. We’re nearly through all the numbers so the month of June will be mostly polish and tying up loose ends. We literally have no time left before this show!!....you know what I mean. It will feel like there’s no time left!! So lets get those remaining songs learnt, dialogue perfected and dances tip top! (I’m mainly telling myself this. If I write it down I might listen to myself). Don’t forget to keep thinking about props! Check the list.
Front Of House
We are still looking for people who can help with front of house duties, please!!! If you or anyone you know may be able to help with a show night or better still all three then please please please inform committee. We need yoooooooou!!!!!

Fun Day!!!!
Team Fun are really starting to get excited. Not long to go now before the notorious day of fun that is......Capel Fun Day!! Saturday the 8th of June 1pm – 5pm.
Please remember that we have a performance opportunity slot during the afternoon, putting on some of our fine material from the Summer show!! You’ll know the material so well by that time so we know you’ll be great!! Briefing for meeting times and content of the slot will be confirmed soon!!
PRIZES!!! - As you already know, the Orchard Players tombola will be in full affect on this day. It’s going to be.a.blast!! However we would love MORE prize offerings!! If you have something nice kicking about that you haven’t looked at or used in tiiiiime (unused and unopened, please!) then Team Fun would greatly appreciate your offering. PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT ALCOHOLIC OFFERINGS ARE STRICTLY........FULLY ACCEPTED!!!!
QUIZ NIGHT
Just another little poke about our famous quiz night on the 12th of October 2019!!! Get your teams ready, teams of no more than 6, chicken and chip supper or obligatory veggie option, £10 per ticket. Be there or be square. I will continue to poke you about this event every month until October......and maybe even after that.
PANTO 2020
Here’s the information you’ve all been waiting for!!!!!!! We now have a concrete plan for panto 2020!!! PHEW!!! Our next pantomime will be “Red Riding Hood” and will be directed by our very own James Finbow and assisted by Glynn Hill!!! We warmly congratulate and support James in his directing debut and I’m sure it’s gonna be frickin’ good’un!!!
I can even provide you all with dates!!!!!
18th of July – Script readthrough
25th of July – Singthrough and audition prep
28th of July – AUDITIONS
Actual Show dates are the 9th, 10th and 11th of January
Summer Social???????
The Orchard Players has a bit of a reputation for being social. The group is renowned for frequenting a Summer event where we all gather together, preferably on a sunny day, and have a lovely time chatting, eating and drinking. These events are usually in the form of a bbq but we’re happy to entertain other options.
The only issue is we need a venue!!! Is there ANYONE out there who would be happy to host a Summer social event at their abode??? Please get in contact with committee if you think you can help and a date can be arranged to your convenience!!!!
Panto 2018
What??? Have we just travelled back in time??? NO!!!! We are pleased to announce that our 2018 Pantomime Aladdin came in joint 2nd place for the NODA Best Pantomime Award for our region!! Great result and a massive congratulations to Rob and his team for this achievement!!!
Summer Show 2020
Don’t get too excited, I have no information regarding this show yet, however, I will tell you this!!...............If you want to direct something or have an idea for a show that you want to direct then now’s the time to get that butt in gear because we’re being SUPER organised and the proverbial feelers are well and truly being waved around regarding this one!!!! Have a think!!!

All for now I THINK!!!! By George, I don’t think there are any other documents to go with this newsletter!!!! No new NEW constitutions here!!!
If i’ve forgotten something then please ask someone else.

The Orchard Players Newsletter April 2019

The Orchard Players Newsletter April 2019

The Orchard Players Newsletter April 2019

Well bother me!!!! It’s already April!! As I sit and write this I have chocolate around my mouth and deep regret in my soul…..yes that’s right…It’s EASTER!!!! So here’s the latest from Orchard Players’ HQ!! (Much of it is the same but please re-read so you don’t forget the crucial bits. This reduces the credibility of the “I didn’t know” or “I forgot about it” excuses.)

Anyway……

Annual General Meeting

As previously mentioned in ALL THE OTHER NEWSLETTERS our annual general meeting is being held in the village hall on Thursday the 25th of April at 7.30pm. Now i don’t want to be the group b**** (no juniors here? no? good!!) but this meeting is at a time and place when everyone would usually be at a rehearsal anyway SO unless you’re previously booked off on the “absent from rehearsal” sheet then there isn’t a reason why you cannot be present. I promise you it’s not boring!! You know you want to know what the committee gets up to at those meetings and the answers will all become clear to you!! There’s a reason why the meetings are held in the bar!!

On a related note, if there is anyone who has a burning desire to join the committee then speak now or forever hold your peace….until next time…

Capel Fun Day!!

Team Fun have been working tirelessly every single year…for the last year to bringFUN FUN FUN to both Capel and Bentley fun days!! Our aim is to raise funds and awareness to the group for current and upcoming shows!! However much Team Fun LOVESsupervising the stall for the entire day it would be amazing if anyone could spare an hour or two of their precious time to help “man” the stall and coax a couple of quid out of the good public!!

Prizes!!! ANY DONATIONS FOR PRIZES FOR OUR STALL WOULD BE GRATEFULLY RECEIVED!! THESE CAN BE ALCOHOLIC OR NOT!!

NOT TO MAKE YOU UNCOMFORTABLE OR ANYTHING BUT A MEMBER OF TEAM FUN WILL BE APPROACHING YOU SOON TO ENQUIRE ABOUT YOUR AVAILABILITY….AND THEY HAVE WAYS OF MAKING YOU TALK. SO START THINKING ABOUT YOUR EXCUSES NOW!!!!

Event: Capel St Mary Fun Day

Where is it?:………. duh!!! Capel St Mary. On the playing field. Playfield Road.

When is it?: The 8th of June 2019. 1.00pm until 5.00pm.

How much?: Free entry but bring change for refreshments and the Orchard Players tombola.

Quiz Night

The Orchard Players quiz night is still standing strong for the 12th of October this year!! Early days at the moment but start thinking about those teams!!! Quiz night is a blast so don’t miss out!!

Event: Orchard Players Quiz Night

Where is it?: Capel St Mary Community Centre (The Village Hall)

When Is it?: The 12th of October 2019. 7.30 till late

How Much?: £10 per ticket. This includes the lovingly compiled quiz and chicken and chip supper OR obligatory veggie option!!

Rules?: Team of 6 only please! 7 is one too many. 8 is completely out! Less than 6 is acceptable if you’ve got the goolies for it but doing it solo is not advised because, sorry, you’ll probably lose.

Summer Show 2019

The current Summer show, “An American In Suffolk” is simmering nicely!! The juniors are continuing to impress with their dedication to learning their material (knowing their own lines and each others’)!! We’ve not known anything like it!! Good work!! The adult cast too are well under way with learning their material!……..Good work!!.

PROPS

Due to the nature of this show you can imagine that it is going to very…..”Proppy” and “furniturey“. Meaning we will require a number of props and furniture faithful in appearance to the 1940s era. Our good director, Cheryll, has compiled a props list for everybody’s perusal. Hard copies will be available from her at rehearsals. Have a butchers and see what you think.

Programme

Do you or anyone you know have a small or large business? Would you or them be interested ineffective and reasonably priced advertising??? Well search no more!! The Orchard Players can provide all these things to you and more!! For an advert in our programme you get:

Value: £40 for a full page advert of your choice and design or £20 for a half page.

Guaranteed views: Your advert would be seen by potentially hundreds of audience members as they peruse our beautifully designed programme.

It’s a no-brainer!! Please approach a member of committee if you are interested in this opportunity!

Additional included Paperwork

Saving the best notice till last! The included attachments with this newsletter are to arm you and mentally prepare you for the upcoming AGM. The new new NEW constitution (newer than the new constitution you were sent with the last newsletter. New in the sense that the newness of the last one was the newest available to us but it didn’t include the newness of the newer constitution as the newness of the newest one was too new to include in what is now the old one).

There will also be an AGM agenda AND the minutes of the previous AGM. It must be stressed that the minutes you have been sent are not agreed minutes. They will be agreed minutes once we are all sitting together at the AGM and all say “I agree” in unison.

You may also receive more paperwork but that’s a surprise. (This is me covering myself in case i’ve forgotten to mention something else I may have to send you).

Any queries???? Ask someone else.

Much love to all, my beauties.

The Orchard Players Newsletter March 2019

Orchard Players Newsletter March 2019

Hello and welcome back to another complete guide to everything Orchard Players!! Ever wonder exactly what goes on in those committee meetings??......No?...Well just IN CASE you wondered, the answers are all in these newsletters!! So it's already March and there is plenty to report so listen closely. I shall literally say this only once!!

Summer Show 2019

Once again a massive THANK YOU to everybody who has showed an interest and supported this project. Newsletter understands that the audition panel had a very tough job casting the show (they always do). It's very early days into rehearsals but so far the time has been used productively with blocking already being looked at and lines being learned..............................................................................................so anyway yeah, keep up the good work.

Annual General Meeting!!

As previously mentioned there is an AGM approaching! Can you feel it? Can you sense it? Are you getting those meeting vibes? Good! You are prepared! The AGM is on the 25th of April and is a friendly meeting for the ENTIRE group so that EVERYONE can get together and express their feelings about what they are experiencing and hearing. It's so nice when EVERYONE is in the same room and can show a mtual interest in the goings on of their favourite group. It's not a compulsory meeting but everyone will be called that evening and it would be lovely to see as many people show an interest as possible.

Membership

So! I'll keep this simple....it's a simple enough subject.... you may have noticed that In this group we pay the membership. Membership money goes towards various show expenses. Paying the membership is a delicate subject becauseit involves money....your money...MY MONEY!! hmmmmmmmmmm......anyway, membership paperwork will be circulating very soon. The sooner the membership is paid the sooner you can forget about it. Please pay membership BEFORE you forget about it. Committee prefers it that way around. Anyway just pay it. Any questions or queries about membership, don't worry!! Molly G is on hand to troubleshoot your worries.

Quiz Night

Newsletter knows how much you all love a quiz night. It's been a tough job trying to pinpoint the perfect quiz night date BUT hard persistence from committee has concluded that an OCTOBER QUIZ NIGHT IS ON THE CARDS!!! We currently have the 12th of October penciled in SO start thinking about your teams NOW!! No harm in being prepared!! More info about this event to follow in coming months so don't stop reading!!

Fun Day

The annual day of Capel St Mary fun (although folk in Capel are a riot 24/7) is on Saturday the 8th of June 2019. Committee has an official Fun Team in place organising the group's stand at the fun day BUT....Team Fun would very much appreciate help from as many people as possible on the day to supervise, advertise and encourage the public to spend spend SPEND!! We may also be doing a special performance on the day so as many people for this would be beneficial. Don't be forcing any of us to do any solos!!!!!!

SPEAKING OF MAKING MONEY, IF ANYONE HAS ANY IDEAS ON HOW TO RAISE EXTRA FUNDS FOR THE GROUP (THAT ISN'T FUN DAY OR QUIZ, YOU FUNNY LOT) THEN COMMITTEE WOULD BE DEEEELIGHTED TO HEAR YOUR IDEAS.

Website

Ok SO the Orchard Players has always had an internet presence BUT we've never really been associated with heavy website activity!! Well, people, that's all about to change because the Orchard Players website is very nearly in it's completion! A few tweaks and additions to go and we'll be hot to trot!! The site, however, is officially LIVE so don't forget to check it out!!! The address is www.theorchardplayers.com OR you could just type the name of the group into Google....that always tends to do the job.

Panto 2020

This is the final opportunity to put your pantomime proposals forward for next year. Committee would like a proposal from every group member by the end of the month.........nah, just kidding of course! But if you do have the desire to put forward a proposal for the next pantomime then you have until the end of this month. Not long. Spit spot.

LAST BUT CERTAINLY NOT LEAST......

A MASSIVE "THANK YOU" AND "CONGRATULATIONS" TO A ONE SUE MAPLESTONE!!!! ....SUE HAS TIRELESSLY SERVED THE ORCHARD PLAYERS COMMITTEE AS TREASURER FOR...WAIT FOR IT.....20 YEARS!!! YOU READ CORRECTLY, 20 YEARS!! AMAZING!! SO A HUGE HUGE THANK YOU, SUE!! THE WORK YOU DO IS VERYMUCH APPRECIATED!! <3 <3 <3

Documentation

Attached to Newsletter will be a few documents for your perusal. Our policies. Anti-bullying and Health and Safety. These will be touched upon at the AGM but peruse beforehand, please. ALSO THE COMMITTEE NOMINATION FORM WILL BE CIRCULATED. IF YOU HAVE THE DESIRE TO BE ON THE COMMITTEE THEN PRINT ONE OFF AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE FORM!!!!!

So I think that's everything for now. If you've skipped straight to the end here then please read the above!!

LOVE TO YOU ALL

The Orchard Players Newsletter February 2019

The Orchard Players February 2019

Newsletter!!

Current Stuff

Hello and welcome to all you lovely OPs!! Ok then wow!! Here we are already in February! A slightly depressing yet amazing month for readthroughs and Valentines!!!!

Now there is a LOT to get through so listen carefully!!

You may have noticed that we very recently staged our pantomime (Rapunzel, in case you'd forgotten) and WOW!! What an utter blast! Newsletter is proud of you all!

With amazing feedback and fabulous fun had by all it was a raging success! We sold a SHED load of tickets! We can ALL look forward to the next AGM to get a look at those figures!! ALL. Another huge "THANKS" to everyone who was involved in making this show the Spectacular Spectacular that it was. Mwah!

Additionally our after show party was held on Thursday the 17th, you may remember, and WHAT A PARTY IT WAS!! So much food, superb turnout, great tunes (cheers again, Ray) and some fine "Macarenas" and "Saturday Night"s were witnessed!

AND QUESTION ON EVERYBODY'S LIPS IS.......???

SUMMER SHOW 2019!

That's right. What is it? When is it? Who is it? Why is it? Let me tell you, there are a million questions flying around and some of them are weird!!

Anyway you may have seen on the reverse of the panto programme that our Summer production is entitled "An American In Suffolk" and it is a musical. Act 1 is set in....well Suffolk, in the 1940s during the time when American pilots (thousands of them!) came to the UK to aid the war effort. Act 2 is set during the 1950s following on the story of characters from Act 1. The songs are obviously from these decades. That's all that needs to said at the moment!

Show week for this should be the first week of July, as usual which is the 4th, 5th and 6th. So free up those diaries. If you could also free up your diaries for Thursday evenings leading up to this date and some Sundays too then even better!

It will be directed by one Cheryll Burton and will be ably assisted by Charlea Burwood and Bex Nicholls.

Dates for the readthrough and auditions are....I can now OFFICIALLY ReVeAl.....Readthrough on THURSDAY THE 21ST OF FEBRUARY with the auditions on SUNDAY THE 24TH OF FEBRUARY. So be there or be exceedingly square!!!

Annual General Meeting

Well, this is personally one of my favourite times of the year, as i'm sure it's yours too! Our one time as a family to discuss everything group!! This momentous occassion will occur on THURSDAY THE 25TH OF APRIL 2019 so if you could all make an appearance and show that interest, committee would be thrilled!!

Capel Fun Day

Once again Capel is holding it's annual day of fun fun FUN and we intend to be a part of it because we are fun people. It's on Saturday the 8th of June 2019. Committee will ask around for help nearer the time and it's likely that we'll be doing a bit of singing on the day as part of a Summer show teaser!! We expect a good group turnout. Love yoooooou!!

Quiz Night

There will be a quiz night in the next handful of months. That's all you need to know at the moment. If you're interested (why wouldn't you be??) then start thinking about your teams!!!!

We're such HOT STUFF

Newsletter is delighted to announce that our Panto 2018, "Aladdin", directed by Rob Maplestone, has been nominated for the Best Pantomime Award from NODA!!! Congratulations Rob!!

And the awesomeness just keeps flowing! If you'd like to turn your attentions to the NODA report accompanying this newsletter then you can read all about how amazing we all were in "Rapunzel". Pats on the back all round!!

Pantomime 2020

I cannot believe how organised this group is, It's inspiring! The committee are currently receiving/entertaining/opening an ear for proposals for panto 2020....just typing that year is disorientating me!! Newsletter is uncomfortable. So if you have an idea and you're so excited that you just can't hide it then  committee looks forward to hearing from you! Don't be shy! You know and love committee and committee loves you!

Ok I think that's it. Not much more to report but trust me....when that news breaks, I'll be lettering it to you!!

Love you all

This is something we haven’t had in the past, but feel that sometimes our young people may have ideas, but are reluctant to approach an older member to put it forward, we therefore decided that they should have their own rep. to go to if they have any issues they wish to discuss. Bridie has also been working hard at revamping our website, and a new look site will be going live in the New Year. Along with the new look website, we have agreed to introduce a new group profile, with a rehearsal uniform, which the committee will actively encourage members to wear. This will be Black leggings/trousers, black t/shirt preferably with the Orchard Player logo and jazz shoes. The t/shirts will be available to buy, at a small cost of £5, in time to start rehearsals for the next production.

All that remains now is to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and New Year
