The Orchard Players Newsletter July 2019

A fond “good morrow” to you fine Orchard Players! First and foremost a sincere apology for the sheer lateness of this Newsletter. This would usually have found you a few weeks ago and in all honesty…… *psssst* (looks around to make sure no-one is listening) at one point I’d convinced myself in my head that i’d already sent it….but NEVERMIND. With the chaos and excitement of show week heavy in the air (bravo everyone, by the way) I doubt anyone even noticed!!! Anyway here is a newsletter of unspecified month and you will probably get another one of specified month later this month too. You lucky devils.

So lets crack on. Please read the below and remember what it says. Or just re-read it.

After Show Party

By now you will have probably been made aware, by word of mouth, invitation and good old fashioned Orchard Players tradition, that we are having an after show party ThIs WeEk!!!! This means we can help ourselves get over our after-show downer and meet up with the people we simply can’t get enough of. So just as a reminder in case you forgot, it’s at 7.30pm, on Thursday the 11th of July, that’s THIS THURSDAY, at our beloved village hall. Please bring something that tastes nice on a plate, in a tin or in a packet to share.

Pantomime 2020

So another heads up about our next “hootenanny“. We will be staging “Red Riding Hood”!! Which we haven’t staged since 1995!! What a treat! It’ll be an utter humdinger! It will be on stage the 9th, 10th and 11th of January.

THE READ THROUGH IS ON THURSDAY THE 18TH OF JULY (THAT’S NEXT THURSDAY)

AUDITION PREP SESSION WILL BE THURSDAY THE 25TH OF JULY (THAT’S THE THURSDAY AFTER)

AUDITIONS WILL BE SUNDAY THE 28TH OF JULY.

So all the dates are here for you in black and white. No need for any queries, quibbles or worries #readthisnewsletter

Additional (long) Request

Please read this and understand that it is extremely rare and surprising that we ever have a rehearsal where we have 100% attendance (other than show week, duh!!). You all have lives, we get that. Committee has a life too but it was noticed that there were a fair number of absences on a number of rehearsals that were not on the “list of absences”. This list is compiled right at the start of a rehearsal period so cast members can inform the director/s of any upcoming events or holidays or other stuff that you may have prearranged and result in you being absent from rehearsal. This way, if necessary, the rehearsal content can be planned accordingly. We all encounter unforeseen circumstances. Committee are not implying they have never encountered an unforeseen circumstance BUT some folk have not shown and not informed anyone in advance or at all. It’s a frigging nightmare to stage a scene, dance or song with people missing and causes unnecessary stress for everyone else. All we ask is that everyone thinks about how much they can commit to before they……..well, commit!! An Orchard Players panto is not just for Christmas, it’s your life from September to January…and from March to July if you are doing Summer Show. Personally I don’t have much of a life outside Orchard Players but if you’re one of these people that has a life then just have a think and If you know there will a number of rehearsals that you can’t make then please let the show organisers know, have a chat about it and see what can be sorted.

A Re-scheduled Capel Fun Day

Same event, just a different date. Simple as that. The new date is Saturday the 20th of July. 1pm-5pm. Capel St Mary playing field, Playfield Road (funnily enough). We do intend on keeping our performance slot, which will be 2.45pm. Team Fun have been in contact to brief you on these amendments so please continue to let them know if you are able to attend or not! Do it!!

……..AND CARRYING ON THE TIMELINE

THE LOVELY DANI HAS VERY KINDLY OFFERED TO HOST OUR ANNUAL SUMMER SOCIAL (IN THE FORM OF A BBQ) AT HER HOUSE IN CAPEL!!!!! THANK YOU MUCHLY DANI!! It will commence on the 21st of July (the day after the above event, what a jam packed weekend full of social goodness!) at 1.00pm till…….whenever!!! Until Dani chucks us out!
